Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP)

The Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP) supports community-driven solutions to expand opportunities for active living, healthy eating and commercial tobacco-free living. It works to create healthier communities across Minnesota by supporting local efforts that make it easier for people to live well. SHIP is mainly supported by funding from the Minnesota Department of Health. More information can be found on their website: https://www.health.state.mn.us/communities/ship/index.html

Carlton County Public Health and Human Services partners with schools, community organizations, worksites, and healthcare providers to build environments, systems, and policies that support active living, healthy eating (food access), commercial tobacco-free living, and mental health promotion. The goal of these changes is to increase population health and decrease overall healthcare costs, while working toward a fair and just opportunity for all of our residents to be as healthy as possible. Carlton County SHIP is a part of a larger group of counties know as Northeast SHIP which serves Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, and St. Louis Counties. More information about local and regional efforts can be found on the Northeast SHIP website.
